It was a normal occasion for Taylor Rae to go to elementary school in a bathing suit, a dance costume, cowboy boots, or a fedora…sometimes all at once. She would stand on the table in her school cafeteria and sing Alicia Keys. Of course her parents tried to calm this drip, but Taylor was having no part of it. She was going to wear what she wanted to wear and do what she wanted to do and not a darn thing was going to stop her. She was 8 years old.
Taylor’s determination and flair for the dramatics eventually landed her at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where she earned her BFA. In fact, Tisch was the only school she applied to. She told her parents, “If I don’t get in, I shouldn’t be an actor.” (The drama is strong in this one.) After touring with Motown: the Musical, Taylor’s spent the last year teaching barre and spin while, on the DL, falling in love with boxing. Now she’s taking center stage at Rumble with a class that brings some emotional firepower. She’s real. She’s bold. She’s swaggy. And she’s anything but ordinary.
